2019 Toyota Sequoia Specs, Price, Release Dates
The 2019 Toyota Sequoia is a large SUV famous for its reliability and family-friendly hauling. Although not as spacious and modern as the Ford Expedition Max and Chevy Suburban, the Sequoia still has a lot to offer. With 3-row seating and array of standard driver-assist features including pre-collision warning and automatic braking. While its 7,400-pound towing capacity behind its competitors, we think it will work for most family hauling needs. Its powerful 5.7-liter V8 engine is another proven component, offering plenty of power to move this big SUV. Those who want to explore off-road will appreciate the Sequoia Multi-mode 4-wheel-drive system this rugged body-on-frame SUV to go places where many of its competitors can’t.
The 2019 Toyota Sequoia is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine producing 381 horsepower and 401 pound-foot of torque. It mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and come standard with rear-wheel drive. A 4-wheel drive (4WD) system optional. With its 5.7-liter V8 and truck-based chassis, a properly equipped Sequoia is rated to tow as much as 7,400 pounds. It works well for towing a small boat or light trailer.

Standard & Optional Equipment
The 2019 Toyota Sequoia is a large three-row SUV available in four trims: SR5, TRD Sport, Limited and Platinum.
The base SR5 model comes with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a sunroof, a power rear window, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver seat, a 40/20/40-split second-row bench seat, a 60/40-split reclining and fold-flat third-row bench, second- and third-row retractable sunshades, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, a USB port, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, and an eight-speaker audio system with a CD player and satellite and HD radio. Safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and traffic-adapting cruise control.
The SR5 optional Premium package adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated front seats, a power liftgate, a power-reclining and -folding third-row seat, and an integrated navigation system.
The 2019 Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport gets 20-inch TRD wheels and features sport-tuned dampers and stiffer front and rear anti-roll bars to help the car handle better on the road and take bumps off the road. The other changes are all cosmetic, such as unique badging and front grille, blacked-out taillights, and TRD trim pieces. The Limited trim adds 20-inch wheels, power-folding and auto-dimming exterior mirrors, upgraded gauges and the Premium package content.
A seven-passenger option replace the second-row bench with two captain’s chairs. A premium 14-speaker JBL sound system, a rear-seat entertainment system with a Blu-ray player and driver-seat memory settings is optional.
The Platinum trim level include all of the above features plus an adaptive air suspension, ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, a second-row center console and a power-adjustable steering wheel.
The 2019 Toyota Sequoia big-size isn’t as space-efficient or comfortable as it appears to be, and the cabin has been showing its age for some time. Prices are lofty, yet the interior falls well short of luxurious. Materials look cheap, dominated by hard plastic pieces, especially, matte-metallic plastic trim along the central console. Fit and finish win no prizes, either. Climate-control dials function well enough, but look especially outmoded.
Seats up front are wide and soft. Second-row seats can slide fore/aft to reapportion legroom, but the standard bench isn’t such a pleasant place. Captain’s chairs can be substituted, for greater comfort. The third row folds to boost cargo space, but it’s not acceptable for adults. Upper trim levels include power-folding seatbacks in the third row.
Cargo capacity is undeniably appealing to large families and drivers who haul plenty of luggage or large items. With all seatbacks up, cargo volume totals 18.9 cubic feet, expanding to 66.6 cubic feet with the third row folded down. Storage cubbyholes and cupholders are bountiful, but not every seat gets a USB power port. Toyota’s easy-to-use Entune infotainment system works with a connected smartphone, and its navigation interfaces is more intuitive that most.
