Don’t be fooled by the rugged style of the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Under that off-road inspired design is a compact SUV that still offers spacious interiors, comfort, advanced standard safety features, impressive fuel economy, reliability and excellent resale value. For 2019, Toyota has improved on what buyers have liked from the RAV4, while improving handling, ground clearance and adding some convenience features. What’s New ?
The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has been completely redesigned for 2019
Every 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine coupled with two electric motors and a sealed nickel metal hydride battery pack that’s small enough to fit under the rear seats instead of taking up space in the cargo area. Total system output is 219 horsepower. It comes standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and AWD. Toyota estimates fuel economy for the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid will be 41 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 39 mpg combined, a huge step up from the previous models, and expected to be the best fuel economy in its class. That would also mean a potential range of nearly 600 miles on a single tank of gas.

219 horsepower @ 5,700 rpm (total output combined)
163 lb-ft of torque @ 3,600-5,200 rpm

Zero to 100 mph: 19.1 sec
Standing 1/4 mile: 15.7 sec @ 91 mph

The XLE optional Weather package adds a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel and automatic wipers with a de-icer function. The XSE gets you a 8-inch touchscreen system, the Convenience package contents plus black-painted 18-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, two-tone exterior paint, simulated-leather upholstery (SofTex), upgraded interior trim materials, a digital speedometer, a 7-inch digital driver-information display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dynamic guidelines for the rearview camera, and additional interior ambient lighting.
A Technology package for the XLE and the XSE adds front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear cross-traffic braking, an auto-dimming rearview mirror (XLE), and a wireless charging pad (XSE).
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited adds 18-inch chrome-finished wheels, parking sensors and automatic rear cross-traffic braking, an integrated navigation system, and two-position memory for the driver’s seat.
Once dark and boring inside, now the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has one of the best interiors in its class. The cabin looks and feels more upscale, with plenty of soft-touch materials on the dash and center armrest. The center stack is dominated by a crisp, bright 7 or 8-inch screen, which serves as the control center for audio, navigation and Apple CarPlay, with physical buttons on both sides of the screen. There are also giant grippy volume, tuning and temperature knobs below. You can choose from cloth or 2-tone SofTex seats, but a passenger-side power seat isn’t available. Further improvements, the XSE model dons blue accents and stitching.
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid rear seats are easy to stow and fold to a nearly flat position that opens up the cabin for cargo. It impressively offers the same luggage room as its gas counterpart, 37.5 cubic feet. A low loading height and wide opening make for easy cargo shuffling. The optional stereo system subwoofer takes up some corner space, but a small with secure netting helps you store smaller items.
