Volvo XC60 made its debut in the small luxury crossover segment back in 2010. Over the years, it has received high marks for safety, powerful engine and spacious cargo area. For 2018, Volvo XC60 is completely redesigned. Most of the appeal is still the same, but the model is more stylish, has a bit more room for rear passengers and has new engine options.
The 2018 Volvo XC60 is basically a smaller version of the larger XC90. And because of the similarity between the two, the 2018 XC60 can use all the same engine from the XC90 model. What’s new for 2018 is the plug-in T8 hybrid. Use a combination of T6 engine to drive the front wheel and electric motor to drive the rears. This results in big jumps in power (400 hp) and fuel savings.

All the 2018 Volvo XC60 are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. It also will be offered in three powertrain options designated by T5, T6 and T8. The T5 features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The T6 has the same engine but with super- and turbocharged rated at 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the range-topping T8 is a plug-in hybrid that combines the T6 engine with a rear electric motor good for 400 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque, which enough to get the XC60 to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds under advantageous conditions and load.
The 2018 Volvo XC60 interior is upscale compared to its predecessor, especially on the Inscription model. The dash has been redesigned and has a small overhang on the top of the flat surface, while the passenger seat shifts slightly between the two vents. A new infotainment display and central vent layout have been moved to the central stack. The screen is vertically oriented, but the vents have the same length as the screen, creating a cleaner interior look. The infotainment screen that takes most of the center stack makes the control buttons much less, with just one button and several buttons between the center console and central stack. The center console also slid under the dashboard for a more modern look.
There is more leg room at the back than the previous model, the suitability and quality of materials used are among the segment leaders. Many luxury SUVs do not provide small storage for clean cabin designs, Volvo is no exception. But 2018 XC60 provides more useful space than most competitors. The XC60 has one small cargo area in the class, with 22.4 cubic feet, but also one of the largest, 63.3 cubic feet, with rear seats folded.
