2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe Review, Release Date, Price – Nearly 20 years, Lexus has become a major two-door luxury convertible and coupe manufacturer. Initially, this is a combination of performance and driving satisfaction Lexus owners expected. But in 2010, Lexus hardtop convertibles are falling and not attractive compared to other competitors. After an eight year hiatus, Lexus is back in the mid-sized luxury coupe business with 2018 LC 500. And unlike its predecessor, the LC 500 Coupe delivers a thrilling yet livable grand tourer car.
Trim, Features and Specification
The 2018 Lexus LC 500 is a high-performance luxury sport coupe. It has seating for four and offered in in a single trim levels.
The 2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe come standard with 20-inch wheels, automatic high-beam control, LED exterior lights, keyless entry/ignition, auto-dimming and heated mirrors, ambient interior lighting, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, lane departure warning and mitigation, a pre-collision warning system, an 8-inch driver information screen, a tilt-telescoping and power-adjustable steering wheel, leather-upholstered front seats, eight-way power front seats, heated and ventilated seats, driver-seat memory settings, adjustable driving modes, a navigation system, a 10.3-inch display, satellite radio, a 12-speaker audio system with two USB ports.
The 2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe also offers numerous optional packages such as the All-Weather package which adds windshield de-icer and heated steering wheel. The Convenience package adds front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The Touring package get you 20-inch wheels, upgraded leather upholstery, faux suede headliner, and Mark Levinson audio system.
If it’s not enough there is Sport package which adds the Convenience package content and front sport seats with simulated suede inserts and the limited-slip diff. The Performance package adds the Sport pack, carbon-fiber roof, carbon-fiber kick plates, an adaptive rear spoiler, variable-ratio steering, an active rear steering system and faux suede headliner.
There also a stand-alone options include forged 20 or 21-inch wheels, a Torsen limited-slip differential, a head-up display and a 13-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.
The 2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine which produces 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted shift paddles send the power to the rear wheels. In performance testing, the 2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe hit 60 mph from zero in 4.8 second and reach the quarter mile in 13.2-second at 110.2-mph.
2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe interior is almost perfect, with high quality materials and neatly trimmed detail. The cabin is light, airy and easy to look out. Door handle attracted some attention, but a nice and wide door openings make it easy for you to go inside. And you do not have to “fall” into a seat like in some sports cars, because getting in is easier than in most rival cars.
Dashboard controls oriented towards to the driver, giving 2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe interior cockpit-like. And it may look a bit tight for some drivers, but the front passenger has more space. Other than a slightly higher than normal, the driving position feels just about right. And for a low sports car, outward visibility is excellent.
The trunk only offers just 5.4 cubic feet of cargo space, which is less than what get in any rival. It fit to carry-on two bags at most. The long and narrow center console won’t hold anything of significant size. The rear seat would be tight for anything but the smallest car seats.
Price and Release Date
The 2018 Lexus LC 500 Coupe will have Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) below $100,000 when they arrive at dealerships this May.
