If you read the Audi A7 specification, you would think that it “does not need more power”. Far from that, because its powerful V6 engine allowing the car to hit 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. And no one complains about adding a twin-turbo V8 with 450 horsepower to this car, and that’s what the 2018 Audi S7 offers to you. Simply put, it makes this practical hatchback sedan is even more ferocious.

Trim, Features and Engine Specs

The 2018 Audi S7 is a high-performance midsize four-door sedan with hatchback body style and two individual rear sport seats. It available in two trim levels: Premium Plus and Prestige.

Standard features for the Premium Plus include 19-inch wheels, an adaptive air suspension, full LED exterior lighting, a sunroof, parking sensors, a power liftgate, a rearview camera, heated auto-dimming mirrors, automatic wipers, a blind-spot monitoring system and keyless ignition and entry.

Inside, you’ll get four-zone climate control, a head-up display, a power-adjustable steering wheel, driver-seat memory settings, heated power-adjustable front seats, diamond-stitched leather upholstery, a navigation system, Bluetooth, voice controls, Audi Connect, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, Audi’s MMI electronics interface with 8-inch display, touchpad and knob controller, a 14-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system with a CD player, a media player interface, HD radio and satellite radio.

The 2018 Audi S7 Prestige gets high-performance summer tires, 20-inch wheels, soft-closing doors and LED cabin lighting.

Optional for both trim is the Driver Assistance package, which adds adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane departure warning and intervention, a forward collision warning and automatic braking system. The S Sport package adds sport exhaust, a sport rear differential and upgraded steering. The Comfort Seating package adds ventilated front seats with massage and memory settings. The Cold Weather package adds a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. The 20-inch Black Optic package adds high-gloss black exterior trim and 20-inch dark-colored wheels. A stand-alone option is a rear side airbag.

Only for the Prestige are 21-inch wheels, upgrade Bang & Olufsen sound system and a night-vision assist system.

Every 2018 Audi S7 gets a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 450 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed automated manual transmission (called S tronic) and all-wheel drive are standard. In track testing, an Audi S7 hit 60 mph from zero in 4.2 seconds, quicker than most competitors in the segment.

The EPA hasn’t released fuel economy numbers for the 2018 Audi S7, but since it is identical to last year model, we expected to return 21 mpg combined (17 mpg city/27 mpg highway). This is a frugal number for such high-performance car.

Go inside, the 2018 Audi S7 cabin offers a high quality materials with sleek and handsome design, and several S-specific themes. The standard MMI infotainment system comes with a pop-up screen mounted on the dashboard and controls surrounded by buttons on the center console. The system has sharp graphics, logical menus and touchpad to enhance functionality. Some rival systems are easier to use, but you will find this Audi system is intuitive after some use.

Whether you choose a standard sports seat or an optional contour massage seat, you will get great support during long trips and serious driving. Unfortunately, the S7 aggressive roofline makes the rear seat tight for high-bodied passengers. But the leg room is adequate, and there is something to be said of the intimate satisfaction of the back bucket seats compared to the traditional three seats.

The 2018 Audi S7 hatchback design makes it easier to load larger items that do not fit the regular sedan trunk. The cargo space itself is also generous, with 24.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats. You can also fold the backseat to open a bigger space.
