The 2018 Audi S5 Sportback Prestige adds a top-down parking camera system, an 8.3-inch infotainment display, a navigation system, a virtual instrument panel display, remote vehicle monitoring, streaming internet radio apps, a tracepad feature for infotainment input, a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium surround-sound system. All of these items are optional for the Premium Plus trim.
The optional S Sport package adds sport rear differential, adaptive suspension dampers and red brake calipers. The Warm Weather package adds a heated steering wheel, extended premium leather upholstery and ventilated front seats and an adaptive steering system. Under the hood, the 2018 Audi S5 Sportback is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 engine that delivers 354 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A manual is not offered, but it does get Audi quattro all-wheel drive as standard equipment.
Audi claims the S5 Sportback will hit 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph with 18-inch summer performance tires. EPA estimated fuel economy stand at 24 mpg combined (21 mpg city/30 mpg highway).
Like most Audi models, the S5 Sportback cabin is a beautiful expression of modern and unpretentious luxury. High quality materials, and smart control layouts make it easy to use and free of distractions.
As you would expect from a high performance car, the 2018 Audi S5 Sportback cockpit has a sporty feel, but never feels tight or confined. The space in the back seat is narrow for large adults, but smaller passengers can sit comfortably there. The roof pillar is rather thick, the typical style of the car today. But that does not deter outer visibility, and an optional top-down camera system is helpful in tight parking lots. The mirror offers great coverage too.
The driver’s seat has many power adjustments and various movements. Drivers of all sizes will be able to find their optimal position easily. There is also extended thigh support. The engine sounds louder than most vehicles, but it feels right and sounds very aggressive. Wind noise is almost nonexistent.
The S5 Sportback is only average when it come to interior storage but gets good value when for luggage space. Not much storage space, and not too big. It just offers enough space for stuff, no more personal. The trunk is larger than expected, though not much larger than the average for the class. There is 11.6 cubic feet of space, roomy enough for the daily cargo transport task.
