2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S Review, Specs, Price
No doubt that Lamborghini and Ferrari offer the best performance of European brands, while Bentley and Rolls-Royce do the same with luxury. Aston Martin positioned itself in the middle of both of these with 2018 Vanquish S. The engine delivers 580 horsepower and exciting sound, and the interior shows Aston Martin’s art in combining wood, metal and leather.
This is probably the last year for Vanquish, a car that is the pinnacle of the Aston Martin lineup, at least in terms of price. Curiously, the new DB11 costs less and brings many benefits from fresh designs, stronger turbocharged engines, to interiors equipped with modern technology features. Even so, purists may consider the growl from the Vanquish’s non-turbocharged V12 superior, and some might say the Vanquish looks better. For cars whose value rests largely on appearance, both aural and visual, it is enough for many to pick Vanquish S.
Trim, Features & Engine Specs
The 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S is a high-performance grand tourer with limited production numbers. It is available as a coupe or soft-top convertible called the Volante.
Standard equipment for the 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S coupe includes an adaptive suspension, 20-inch wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, a limited-slip differential, launch control, xenon headlights, LED running lights, front and rear parking sensors, power-folding mirrors, a rearview camera, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats with heating, a 6.5-inch display screen, navigation, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and a 13-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with satellite radio.
The Volante Convertible models come with rear seats that are optional on the coupe. Other optional equipment includes an auto-dimming rearview mirror, front-seat ventilation, lightweight carbon-fiber seats, a squared-off steering wheel derived from the limited-edition One-77, and a wind deflector for the convertible.
Other options give buyers a wide range of options such as wheels, caliper brake colors, and leather and interior trim options. The Aston Martin Q program allows for further customization of color and trim. If there is any color combination, stitching style, or material you want to have, Aston Martin can make it happen in Vanquish S.
All the 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S is powered by an upgrade 5.9-liter V-12 engine that produces 580 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The U.K. and EU versions are rated at 595 hp, thanks to the availability of higher octane pump fuel. Power sent to the rear wheel through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Aston Martin claims the Vanquish S will accelerate to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, and reach a top speed of 201 mph. It feels faster than previous models, thanks to an eight-speed automatic transmission that not only delivers a better low speed subtlety and smoothness but also crisper shifts under load.
Go inside, the 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S interior also gets updates, with the addition of some cool features added to the already luxurious cabin. The upholstery fabric gets a lot of attention, making Vanquish S now available with Filograph lined seats. Dark leather paired with white contrast stitches, along with “Vanquish S” embroidered logo adorn the headrests. While the driver will not see the headrests while facing the wheel, they will see a new and well-finished center stack. All buttons and knobs are now covered by the satin “Chopped Carbon Fiber” fascia. Finally, Aston Martin also offers Bridge of Weir Caithness leather upholstery, which adds a touch of luxury.
The 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S coupe has a seating area for two people, with a rear area designed for cargo space. Vanquish S Volante convertible has four seats, but the rear seat is tight and is best used for storage. The Vanquish S also has a small trunk, virtually no interior storage and cupholders. The same goes for other cars in this segment. There are no lower LATCH anchors for a car seat, but it’s easy to reach the upper tether on the rear shelf.
