There are many reasons to make the 2018 Acura RDX one of the top choices in the luxury compact SUV segment. This is a well-equipped and well-made SUV that sets it apart from the main compact SUV like the Honda CR-V. Its value is undeniable and buyers who value engineering and smart style should test-drive.
The 2018 Acura RDX main strength is space and price. Although categorized as a compact SUV, the RDX has plenty of room for passengers. If you need a rear seat large enough to be taped to a rear-facing baby seat, or a pair of teenagers, the 2018 Acura RDX is more suitable than most other vehicles in this segment. The cargo capacity is also generous, both in terms of on-paper and real-world.
In terms of value, the 2018 Acura RDX is one of the few compact SUV that offer the standard V6 engine. It also has a long list of standard features, but still competes with European models even after you fill it with all the optional features.

The 2018 Acura RDX is a five-passenger compact luxury SUV. There is a single trim level available with three optional packages.
The RDX standard features list includes keyless ignition and entry, 18-inch wheels, automatic LED headlights, a power liftgate, a rearview camera, cruise control, a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming mirror, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated power front seats with eight-way driver and four-way passenger, premium vinyl upholstery, Bluetooth phone and audio, Pandora internet radio control, and a seven-speaker sound system with a media player interface, satellite radio, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack.
There are three optional packages of the 2018 Acura RDX. The AcuraWatch Plus package adds a color trip computer display, adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning and keeping system, a forward collision warning and automatic braking system.
The Technology package adds an eight-way power passenger seat, leather upholstery, a navigation system, GPS-linked climate control, traffic information, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert systems, Aha internet radio capability, smartphone apps with Android Auto integration and Apple CarPlay, a 10-speaker sound system and HD radio.
The Advance package gets all above features plus foglights, automatic wipers, front and rear parking sensors, auto-dimming side mirrors, ventilated front seats and remote ignition.
The 2018 Acura RDX is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 279 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, while all-wheel drive available as optional. In performance testing, an all-wheel-drive RDX accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, which is one of the quickest SUV in the segment.
Although it uses a V6 engine in a segment where most competitors get turbocharged four-cylinders, the 2018 Acura RDX still returns impressive fuel economy. The EPA estimates return 23 mpg combined (20 city/28 highway) with front-wheel drive and 22 mpg (19/27) with all-wheel drive.
The 2018 Acura RDX cabin is a comfortable place, as feels spacious and has solid construction. The basic model gets a dial controller on the center stack plus a conventional sound system button. This works well, but the control buttons in the center of the dashboard are less intuitive to use when compared to the console-mounted controllers on the rivals. Unfortunately, the basic settings might be better than the upgrade split-screen interface which standard in the Technology package. Switching with virtual button is a more annoying and often slow process, and the way the system splits information between the two screens can be confusing.
Up front, the 2018 Acura RDX seats are supportive and firm as the best European models, while the rear seats have more leg room than most competitors, making it easier for tall passengers to sit comfortably.
