2018 Kia Stinger Review, Specs, Release Date – As a new models from Kia, the 2018 Stinger sedan attempt to compete against established luxury sedans from Japan and Europe. With aggressive exterior styling, two turbocharged engine options and rear or all-wheel drive, the 2018 Kia Stinger has all the necessary tools to attract the buyer.
For the exterior, the Kia’s design has improved dramatically over the years, and Stinger is one of the most aggressive examples to date. Sharp and sweep LED headlights give the impression of speed, while gaping vents on the front end facilitate air circulation in large quantities. At the back, there are four exhausts underlined by the rear diffuser. Finally, 2018 Kia Stinger fastback design that brings hatchback function with a sleeker sedan profile, matching well with current style trends.
The 2018 Kia Stinger is an all-new midsize sports four-door that have a fastback roofline and a large hatch. It will be offered two models: the Stinger and Stinger GT.
The 2018 Kia Stinger base model is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The Stinger GT gets a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 engine crank up for 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft torque. An eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters is the only transmission offered for both models. Two models will be offered with a choice of rear or all-wheel drive. Kia says the Stinger GT will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in around 5 seconds and have a top speed of 167 mph.
The 2018 Kia Stinger also features with a new electronic adjustable suspension called (DSDC) Dynamic Stability Damping Control. With this feature, the suspension damping can be softened or firmed up easily, and five selectable drive modes ( Comfort, Eco, Personal, Smart and Sport) help optimize for either ride comfort or handling performance.
The 2018 Kia Stinger models with rear-wheel-drive receive a limited-slip differential to help put power down to the ground more effectively. The AWD models get torque vectoring, which manipulates braking at individual wheels to allow the Stinger to carve a tighter line.
Stinger’s biggest hurdle would be what it looks and feels like its interior cabin. Kia claims its sophistication increases with a more substantial switch and seats with adjustable air cushions and soft premium leather upholstery. Although some Kia models are well-equipped in their respective segments, sometimes it has no quality compared to its competitors.
For features, the 2018 Kia Stinger interior gets a color TFT display in a cluster gauge that displays performance data such as engine oil temperature and lap times along with the increasing number of standard computer trip functions and navigation. Kia already comprehensive suite of active driver safety and convenience aids, along with the addition of a new Driver Attention Alert system. The system monitors driving inputs to determine if you’re getting drowsy and will suggest that you take a break.
