Trim, Features and Engine Specs
The 2018 Audi Q3 is a subcompact luxury crossover available in two trim levels: Premium and Premium Plus. The Prestige trim has been dropped for 2018.
The Premium comes with standard features that include 18-inch wheels, automatic xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, automatic wipers, LED taillights, a panoramic sunroof, silver roof rails, front and rear parking sensors, heated mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, a monochrome driver information display, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, heated and eight-way power-adjustable front seats with four-way lumbar adjustment, leather upholstery, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a charge-only USB port, Bluetooth, a 10-speaker audio system with a CD player, satellite radio, an SD card slot, and Audi’s proprietary digital music interface with a Lightning adapter cable.
The 2018 Audi Q3 Premium Plus adds aluminum exterior trim, LED headlights, blind-spot monitoring, auto dimming power-folding exterior mirrors plus the contents of the Convenience package (keyless entry and ignition, an auto-dimming mirror, a power liftgate and aluminum interior trim).
Two optional packages are available for either trim. The Sport package adds 19-inch wheels, steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles, selectable driving modes and front sport seats. The Audi MMI Navigation Plus package adds a navigation system with a color driver information display and online services.
The Sport Plus package for the Premium Plus (require the Sport package) adds sportier exterior styling elements and a different wheel design. Stand-alone option for both trims is the unique wheels from the Sport Plus package. The Premium Plus can also be ordered with wood inlays and a 14-speaker Bose audio system.
Every 2018 Audi Q3 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. An all-wheel-drive system called Quattro is available as options.
EPA-estimated fuel economy rated at 23 mpg combined (20 city/28 highway), which is below average for this class of vehicle. In performance testing, an AWD Q3 accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 8.0 seconds, which is a slow time compared to rivals such as the Lexus NX 200t and BMW X1.
Inside, the 2018 Audi Q3 cabin is very nice, with materials and styles to suit the Audi brand. To keep the sporty nature of the Audi, the Q3 interior has a clear feels of sport, thanks to the metal accents, sharp gauges and the central stack that directly led to the driver.
Dual-zone climate control is easy to learn, and other controls are clearly labeled and easy to operate. Not surprisingly for this car, the controls are within the driver reach. The dash-mounted infotainment controller is awkward to use.
The front passenger will enjoy spacious accommodation with nice shaped chairs that provide firm support. The rear seats are just fine, but the lack of available leg room means that realistically it is only suitable for small children.
To transport the stuff, the 2018 Audi Q3 offers only 16.7 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the rear seat. With the rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity increased to a more reasonable 48.2 cubic feet.
